Franco retained his WBA belt after a draw with Ioka  – World Boxing Association

Joshua Franco and Kazuto Ioka fight ended at split draw on Saturday, December 31 at the Ota-City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan, so the World Boxing Association (WBA) champion retained his super flyweight title.

Franco continues as champion of the pioneer organization, while Ioka remains as owner of the WBO belt after the result that left cards of 115-113 in favor of Franco and two 114-114 cards.

The San Antonio native took good advantage of his reach and threw a good amount of punches during the fight, which helped him stay one-on-one with the Japanese so that the fight ended in a draw.

Franco’s record stands at 18 wins, 1 loss, 3 draws and 8 knockouts, while Ioka now has a record of 29 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw and 15 knockouts.
