Gutierrez and Delgado fight for WBA Fedelatin belt on Friday  – World Boxing Association

Roger Gutierrez will return to the ring on Friday to fight for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedelatin super featherweight title against Henry Delgado in his native Maracaibo, Venezuela.

The former world champion will be going to his first fight after losing the title to Hector Garcia in August last year. Gutierrez’s intention is clear and is to get another title opportunity, but he must go through a path that starts with the dispute of this regional belt.

The “Kid” became world champion in January 2021 when he defeated Nicaraguan René Alvarado by unanimous decision. In August of that same year he returned to the ring for a new confrontation against the Central American and defeated him again to make the first defense of the crown.

It was last year when he lost to Garcia in a tough fight in which he came from less to more but that was not enough to get the win against the Dominican.

His opponent now will be Delgado, also a native of the Dominican Republic who knows the opportunity he has and wants to take advantage of it. He comes in on a 7-fight winning streak and hasn’t lost since 2017, but he will go into a complicated challenge in which he needs to be focused and at one hundred percent to surprise the home fighter.

The official weigh-in for the evening will take place on Thursday and once they mark the regulation 130 pounds, they will be ready for the dispute for the title. Gutierrez has a record of 26 wins, 4 losses, 1 draw and 20 knockouts, while Delgado has 20 wins, 1 loss and 14 knockouts.
