Ricky Hatton – Floyd Mayweather: Tickets Gone On Sale Monday

ByBoxing Press 12/09/200707/11/2007

In what could become one of the fastest-moving on-sales in the history of boxing, the Floyd Mayweather vs. Ricky Hatton, “UNDEFEATED” welterweight championship is expected to sell out quickly after tickets are available for fans worldwide Monday, Sept. 17. The fight, promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and Mayweather Promotions, is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 8 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and will be produced and distributed live on HBO Pay-Per-View.

Tickets for “UNDEFEATED,” priced at $1,000, $750, $600, $300 and $150, go on sale Monday, Sept. 17 at 10:00 am PT Tickets will be available for purchase by visiting www.ticketmaster.com or to charge by phone with a major credit card call (702) 474-4000. Ticket sales will be limited to two (2) per person.

“With all of the United States-based boxing fans, coupled with the British fans wanting to attend this event, we have seen an unprecedented level of interest and demand for tickets and therefore, we expect an immediate sell out,” said Richard Schaefer, chief executive officer for Golden Boy Promotions. “This is not only a spectacular fight between two undefeated champions but it is an event that will get the entire world’s attention on Dec. 8.”

Mayweather, 30, is 38-0 (24 KOs) and the reigning world welterweight champion. He is a six-time world champion in five weight divisions including super featherweight, lightweight, super lightweight, welterweight and super welterweight. Coming off his decision victory against Oscar de la Hoya, the largest-grossing event in the history of boxing, Mayweather is one of the most gifted fighters to ever step between the ropes and is ready for December.

Mayweather, who most recently defeated Oscar de la Hoya at the storied Las Vegas venue said, “This ticket is the hottest thing in sports and trust me, my fans will not be disappointed on Dec. 8 when I beat Ricky Hatton in the arena that has been a second home to me throughout my career.”

Hatton, 28, is 43-0 (31 KOs) and hails from Manchester, England. He also is a multi-division champion and universally recognized world junior welterweight champion. He has fought once before at 147 pounds, winning the welterweight belt from Luis Collazo in May 2006 before returning to 140 pounds and capturing his third world title.

Hatton stated, “The MGM Grand has been the home of so many great fights and to have the opportunity to fight Floyd Mayweather and prove to everyone who is the best boxer in the world is like a dream come true. But it disappoints me that not all of my British fans will be able to support me inside the arena due to the low allocation of tickets for them.”

For room packages and availability at MGM Grand, as well as event ticket information, call (800) 929-1111 or (702) 891-7777 or visit www.mgmgrand.com.

The MGM Grand Garden Arena is home to concerts, championship boxing and premier sporting and special events. The Arena offers comfortable seating for as many as 16,800 with excellent sightlines and state-of-the-art acoustics, lighting and sound.
