Mbilli dominated Góngora in a war  – World Boxing Association

Frenchman Christian Mbilli fought Carlos Góngora for 10 rounds and won by unanimous decision to win the World Boxing Association (WBA) International super middleweight belt at the Casino de Montreal, Canada, on Thursday .

The judges’ scorecards showed the dominance of the European with scores of 99-91, 98-92 and 97-93, in a fight with a lot of action and that had an important physical demand for both fighters.

Beyond the open scores, it was not an easy fight for the winner. Mbilli met a strong Ecuadorian who was aggressive throughout the fight, so he was forced to work with a high volume of punches and to have an impressive physical strain during the development of the fight.

Mbilli’s ability to throw non-stop punches was essential to keep the South American at bay and that demand helped him get the rounds to take the victory.

Mbilli left his record at 24 wins, 20 of them before the limit. Góngora, who made a great fight despite the defeat, now has a record of 21 wins, 2 losses and 16 knockouts.
