Cuevas knocks out Rodriguez in Panama City  – World Boxing Association

Puerto Rican Derrieck Cuevas defended his World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedecentro super welterweight belt with a double round knockout over Cuban Damian Rodriguez this Friday night at the Pandeportes Combat Coliseum in Panama City.

The power of the Puerto Rican was present once again and connected a combination early in the fight to send the Antillean to the canvas, who fell down dramatically and although he tried to get back up, he could not do it before the referee’s count.

Cuevas continues to make good progress in his career and remains the regional champion of the pioneer organization. He has fought in several countries and has been gaining experience at 28 years of age.

Cuevas’ record now stands at 25 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw and 17 knockouts. Rodriguez has improved his record to 13 wins, 2 losses and 7 knockouts.
