Shields and Gabriels meet in Detroit – World Boxing Association

The promotion for the June 3 rematch between undisputed middleweight champion Claressa Shields and Costa Rican Hanna Gabriels began Tuesday at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit with a press conference between the two fighters.

At the same venue, they will step into the ring for a second fight. Their first fight in June 2022 is well remembered because Claressa won but not without going through difficult moments and falling to the canvas in the very first round in a fight that had great moments and deserved a rematch.

Both fighters spoke about their motivation to face each other again and both Shields and Gabriels said they were ready for war and ready to take the win.

Shields’ 160-pound titles will be on the line, while Gabriels will be moving down in weight for the fight and will not be exposing her light heavyweight belt.

Both will now return to camp and tune up for the highly anticipated bout, which is about a month and a half away.
