De Paula Vasquez dominated Gonzalez to win the WBA Fedecaribe belt  – World Boxing Association

Undefeated Dominican Franklyn De Paula Vasquez won the World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedecaribe flyweight belt by defeating Venezuelan Gilbert Gonzalez this Friday night at the Fencing Pavilion of the Santo Domingo Olympic Center in the Dominican Republic.

The home fighter won a unanimous decision of 100-90, 99-91 and 99-91, evidence of his dominance in the 10-round bout, which was the highlight of the evening.

De Paula Vasquez debuted in 2022 and has been active enough in his native country to earn his first regional title shot. It is noteworthy that it was his first fight won by decision, as he had won all his previous fights by knockout.

The Dominican showed that he can go the distance and handle the ring well, in addition to doing it against an opponent with good experience as the Venezuelan, who put up a tough fight but it was not enough to get close to the victory.

It was the seventh career victory for the Quintana Roo, who has 6 knockouts. For his part, Gonzalez left his record at 18 wins, 5 losses, 1 draw and 13 knockouts.
