Good return of Albert Ramirez in Mexico  – World Boxing Association

Venezuelan fighter Albert Ramirez returned to action in Cuernavaca, Mexico, last weekend. The native of El Vigia and current World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental Americas champion (title not at stake) defeated local Ricardo Luna in the main event of the night.

Ramirez (16-0 / 15 KO) took the initiative from the first minute of the fight and tried to dominate the center of the ring at every turn. Albert was throwing a barrage of punches and although Luna was responding with combinations he wasn’t hurting his opponent.

Just a minute into the fourth round of the fight, the undefeated Venezuelan landed the blow to the chin that caused the Aztec fighter to fall. The home fighter got up despite the painful punishment he was receiving, but the corner had the last word and threw in the towel seconds later.

Albert Ramirez’s current status

Ramirez extended his undefeated record that placed in four the number of consecutive fights he has finished by knockout. It should be noted, that since 2018 only one of his last 10 performances has gone past the fifth round.

In addition, he added his second victory in 2023. The first was against Jacob Dickson, an opponent he defeated by knockout in the first round Deauville, France last January.

After the victory that brings him closer and closer to the long-awaited fight for the scepters of the category, the Mérida-born fighter expressed his gratitude to his team, family and other people who have been part of his sports career.

“I cannot express in words my gratitude for all the unconditional support I have received from my family, team and all of you. Today let’s celebrate this victory together, not only as a sporting achievement, but as a reminder that we can achieve any goal we set, just with discipline and humility,” he said.
