Catterall wins WBA Intercontinental belt in his return to the ring  – World Boxing Association

Britain’s Jack Catterall made a great return to the ring this Saturday at the Manchester Arena and captured the World Boxing Association (WBA) Intercontinental super lightweight belt with a unanimous decision over Darragh Foley.

Scores of 99-88, 98-89 and 97-90 evidenced the dominant performance of “El Gato”, who knocked Foley down in rounds 7 and 9 and won most of the rounds to win the regional belt of the pioneer organization.

It was Catterall’s first fight since February 2022 when he lost to Josh Taylor in a close and controversial fight that had the world title on the line. Now, following his signing with Matchroom Boxing, Catterall is back in the ring and wants another world title shot, so this fight was a great start for him on that path.

The Chorley native now has 27 wins and 1 loss, with 13 knockouts, while Foley dropped his record to 22 wins, 5 losses, 1 draw and 10 knockouts.
