Maira Moneo vs. Alys Sanchez for the WBA Interim Lightweight Title  – World Boxing Association

The boxer from Montevideo, Uruguay, Maira “La panterita” Moneo will be facing the complicated Venezuelan, Alys “La china” Sanchez in a fight for the interim World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight belt, which will be held at the Luna Park Stadium in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, next Saturday.

The interim title was approved by the women’s championships committee because Katie Taylor will have a rematch with Chantelle Cameron at super lightweight. Given the importance of this bout for boxing, the WBA decided to approve the interim and maintain Taylor’s championship status.

Maira Moneo (12-1 / 2 KO), 30 years old, will fight her first fight this year. Her last fight was last December, when she defeated Erica Anabella Farias (27-7), from Argentina, by unanimous decision.

The Uruguayan has a knockout power below 20%, but after her only defeat three years ago against Yanina Lescano, she accumulates a positive streak of six consecutive victories, one of which has ended by knockout.

Likewise, the current Fedelatin champion has made known through her official Instagram account, that she has held the preparation camp in her homeland, Uruguay.

Sanchez (17-8-1 / 6 KO), 36 years old, has a knockout power of over 20% and has a winning streak of two wins in her five recent fights.
