Tonight at the Robin Park Arena, in Wigan, England, one of trainer Bobby Rimmers’ young boxers, light welter Jack Arnfield, is appearing on the undercard of Frank Maloney’s Jamie Moore vs. Andrew Facey rematch and SaddoBoxing had the good fortune to briefly speak with Rimmer about his stable of fighters.

SaddoBoxing: Bobby, Jack Arnfield is making his pro debut on Friday when he fights Lewis Byrne; how is he feeling ahead of the fight?

Bobby Rimmer: “Absolutely fantastic! It’s his first professional fight tomorrow. Training has gone great. He’s a nice boxer is young Jack, a bit like Brian [Rose] but can be a bit more adventurous than Brian.

He does have a tendancy to have a bit of a ‘fight’, if you know what I mean…a little bit like Mike Gomez (laughing) and one Mike Gomez is enough for us, I think!

He’s not scared of coming forward is Jack, you know he likes to have a go. But he’s a nice boxer; tall and rangey”.

SB: Stablemate, Brian Rose will be there to support Jack in his debut fight tomorrow?

BR: “Brian is ok again now, he had to pull-out ahead of last weeks’ fightnight because of a muscle strain,….and will be back in full training on Monday.”

SB: How is Michael Gomez now after the war of a fight he endured with Carl Johanneson last week?

BR: “He’s great, he was back in the gym again on Monday and he couldn’t wait to get back in! Yeah, he’s fine, Michaels’ got a big heart as you know and has already talked about getting a re-match”.
