Yusaf Mack, former super middleweight, is ready to replace Jeff Lacy, who pulled out of the scheduled April 12 clash clash with current IBO champion, Antonio Tarver at the St. Pete Times Forum, Tampa, Florida
Mack has been struggling to make the super middleweight limit for some time is ready to fulfil his potential at the higher weight. Mack is known as a real talent that has never really reached his full potential, and after defeats to Alejandro Berrio and more recently, Librado Andrade, Mack’s manager Rory Donadio has decided that it is now time to make some drastic changes to Mack’s preparation, in order to get the best out of him.
Now Mack is calling out for the chance to take on Tarver, who has had a string of easy wins since his defeat to Bernard Hopkins, but Tarver will certainly not find an easy contender in the young and talented Mack.
Major changes have been made in Mack’s camp. Yusaf’s former trainer Tommy Gallagher has withdrawn from training responsibilities by mutual consent. He will still play a part in Yusaf’s career, but manager Rory Donadio has recruited British coach John Tandy to take over as head trainer.
Tandy, a strict, no nonsense trainer will bring in a whole new modern approach for Mack, with tough strength, stamina and conditioning training, along with a new balanced nutritional diet.
Donadio is confident that the changes will make a tremendous difference in Mack’s performance. Mack has the boxing ability but hasn’t been able to consistently produce his best due to weight and stamina problems in the past. However, now he is ready to prove to the doubters that he is not a nearly man and is destined to become a successful world champion, starting on April 12.
Tarver, if he accepts the fight, will become the first of many to face the future of the light heavyweight division.
