Risum Boxing: Poulsen, Fawaz Matched Tough For Saturday Show On Danish TV Network DK4

ByBoxing Press 08/02/2008

Danish super featherweight prospect Kim “Golden Boy” Poulsen (6-1, 1 KO) is ready to make his Danish TV debut as a professional on Saturday in Aabybro, Denmark. The 21-year-old stylist from Horsens will face durable Slovakian Lubos Priehradnik at a catchweight of 60,5 kilos over six rounds, and should expect a hard nights work.

Priehradnik (5-24, 2 KOs) does not own an impressive record, but he has proven himself game as they come in fights against some of the best in Europe from super feather to light welterweight.

He has previously gone the distance against Benelux champion Innocent Anyanwu, European title-challengers Mihaita Mutu and Krzysztof Bienias, as well as undefeated prospects Michael Grant, Freddy Chura, Guillaume Salingue among others.

While Poulsen has previously appeared on TV abroad, this will be his first professional fight that is broadcasted live throughout Denmark, as DK4 has the rights to the show promoted by Larsen Boxing.

After effective sparring with former European and world title-challenger Allan Vester, Poulsen feels ready to hopefully impress the viewers, saying: “Of course there is extra pressure when the whole country can watch you fight, but it only motivates me that much more. I am well aware that my opponent is much more dangerous than his win-loss statistics indicate, so I will be focused and ready for everything he brings, and I aim to outbox him from start to finish. If the knockout comes it will be fantastic, but I am not a so-called puncher, and I just want to go in there and do what my trainer tells me to. I can’t wait!”

After six months out of the ring following two title fights almost back-to-back in 2007, Danish super middleweight, and former WBO Intercontinental title-challenger, Fawaz Nasir (11-2, 6 KOs) is counting the hours before his ring-return on Saturday night in Aabybro, Denmark.

He wants to get back in the win-column quickly, and then go back ito the gym to prepare for more fights during the coming spring, and then hopefully a third crack at a belt after the summer. “We are hoping to get two or three wins under Fawaz belt before aiming at another big fight after we came so close to winning titles last year”, says co-manager Henrik Risum of Risum Boxing, who handles Nasir in cooperation with Fight Production in Germany. “I hope Fawaz has learned from the fights against Sebastian Zbik (L12) and Lukas Wilascheck (L10), and that it will be third time lucky in 08.”

In Aabybro, Nasir will fight teak-tough Latvian Sandris Tomsons (2-11, 1 KO). The numbers on Tomsons ledger are not frightening, but is deceiving nevertheless. Less than two years ago he lost a controversial split decision against the 34-3-2 Stephan Trabant in Germany, and many felt he deserved the decision over undefeated (9-0) Thomas Troelenberg in March of last year. Tomsons is coming off a knockout victory, and will face Nasir with intentions of “upsetting the applecart”.

Nasir vs. Tomsons will be aired live on Danish TV channel DK4. The show is promoted by Larsen Boxing, and will also include Nasir’s Risum Boxing-stablemate Kim “Golden Boy” Poulsen who is making his Danish TV debut against Lubos Priehradnik from Slovakia.
