Yesterday, in the smart surroundings of the Gateway Hotel in Nottingham, England, Kiko Martinez of Spain came head-to-head with ‘The Fighting Dustman’ – Rendall Munroe of Leicester.
Munroe is challenging for the European Super Bantamweight title on a Frank Maloney promotion at the Harvey Hadden Leisure Centre, Nottingham, which will be screened live on Sky Sports.
Fresh from sparring with British Super Feather Champion Carl Johanneson, 27 year old Munroe 13-1 (6), looked calm and confident as entered the weigh-in area in a smart suit and tie.
Also looking cool and relaxed was the 21 year old Spaniard, European Champion Martinez 17-0 (14), Having flown in from Alicante, Spain, on Tuesday – he looked keen to show the cameras that he was unphased by the taller Munroe.
Also at the weigh-in was Jason ‘2Smooth’ Booth, 28-5 (11), making the first defense of his Commonwealth Bantamweight title against tough African boxer – Lante Addy, 5-0 (3), of Ghana.
6 foot 7 inch tall heavyweight prospect Scott Belshaw, 7-0 (6), looked fearless as he weighed in alongside Russia’s Daniel Peret, 11-12 (3).
