Bazinyan retains WBA regional belt with draw against Phinn  – World Boxing Association

Erik Bazinyan retained his World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental North America belt with a draw against Shakeel Phinn on Thursday night at the Montreal Casino.

It was a tough fight for both and the judges ended up offering a split draw decision. The scorecards were 95-95, 96-94 in favor of Bazinyan and 97-93 in favor of Phinn.

Bazinyan had a tough test against a quality and experienced opponent who came out to give his all and although he could not get the victory, he showed his ability to stay in the fight.

Phinn came all out for the victory and although he fell short in his intention, he proved to be a great challenger and a tough opponent for the regional champion.

Bazinyan remains undefeated with 32 wins, no losses, 1 draw and 23 knockouts. Phinn left his balance in 26 wins, 3 losses, 2 draws and 17 defined before the limit.
