In a shocking turn of events, boxer Najal Turpin, a contestant on the soon-to-be aired “Contender” series committed suicide yesterday. Turpin held a professional record of 11-1 and had taken part in the reality TV show in an effort to gain recognition and to help his young career. All participants in the show were not allowed to resume their boxing career’s immediately after taping ended, which meant that Turpin’s career would still have been idle going into March of this year. It is thought that this was a factor in his death. It is not known how far the young Philadelphian progressed in the show, but it is expected that his part in it will be aired despite this shocking development. Najal Turpin was only twenty-three years old. SaddoBoxing.com sends its sympathies and best wishes to Najal’s family and friends in their time of need.
