In the 10-round main event, exciting ShoBox alum Antonio DeMarco, 19-1-1 (14) will attempt to secure his third ShoBox victory in one year when he takes on World Boxing Organization Latin American Lightweight Champion Jose Reyes, 23-4 (8), Friday tonight on ShoBox: The New Generation, live on Showtime at 11 p.m. ET/PT delayed on the west coast.

The 10-round bantamweight co-feature will pit NABF Bantamweight Champion/WBC No. 6 contender Yonnhy Perez, 17-0 (12), against late substitute David Martinez, 18-4-1 (3).

Gary Shaw Productions, LLC, will present the doubleheader from the Star of the Desert Arena in Primm, Nevada.

DeMarco: 134 lb
Reyes: 136lb
Perez: 118 lb
Martinez: 118.5 lb

Antonio DeMarco: “I am going to be cautious. I need to stay calm and not attack without thinking. But, once Reyes feels my punch, it will be over. This is a big step up for me. I have to take these chances if I want to be a world champion.

“If I look good tomorrow night, the time is right for me to take on one of the legitimate top-10 contenders in the lightweight division. I am mentally and physically ready. I have made improvements defensively. I will show the fans something they have never seen before.

“Reyes has a lot of experience. He adjusts to the attack and knows how to move sideways.”

Jose Reyes: “We sparred against some southpaws to prepare for DeMarco. I am naturally right handed, but can fight with both hands. I like to confuse my opponents. I used to showboat a lot, but have gotten away from that in the ring.

“I intend to work more inside and move laterally against DeMarco. We will stick with our game plan. It is not who has more guts, it is who gets the win.”

Yonnhy Perez: “We were preparing to fight a lefty, but will be ready to attack Martinez from the opening round. If I win tomorrow night, I will be ready for a world title fight.”

“Economically, training wise, the level of competition and support from trainers are all better in the United States than in Colombia . That is why I fight here all of the time. I am very relaxed in the ring and will be able to handle any of the guys in the top 10.”

David Martinez: “We found out about this fight a week ago and signed the deal yesterday, but we were already in the gym training for four months. I try to be ready at all times. When they call, I am 100 percent ready.”

“I can be a boxer or a puncher. I am known as a boxer, but can mix it up if necessary. I come to fight and am a good inside body puncher. I have four losses, but all of the guys are really good fighters.”

“I can make the weight, but have some low self esteem. I look in the mirror and see a little skinny guy.”

  • Where does Usyk go from here? 27/05/2026
For once, I’m totally on board with the WBC. WBC moves to shut down Usyk-Verhoeven rematch talk I personally have NO wish to see a rematch between Rico and Usyk. Call it defensiveness of our sport. Just like I thought Fury’s narrow escape against Ngannou was cringeworthy… I also feel a sense of dread that we came “this close” to having a kickboxer defeat the […]

  • Why was Usyk so bad? 27/05/2026
What was the major factor for Usyk to perform so poorly against Rico? Rico better than expected, skilled kick boxer, huge size, awkward style, surprise element? Age of Usyk finally showing up? Weight Usyk was too heavy? Usyk not taking the fight seriously? Ukraine war on his mind? 4 posts - 4 participants Read full topic […]

Jai Opetaia Says Boxing Rewards Talk More Than Skill This has long been a thought of mine, but of course it’s always refreshing when an actual boxer says it. It could be speculated that at some point Jai could follow t […]
