Tsutsumi and Higa Set for Tokyo Showdown – World Boxing Association

Seiya Tsutsumi and Daigo Higa are primed for their Monday clash, both officially making weight on Sunday. Tsutsumi is set to make the first defense of his WBA bantamweight title at Tokyo’s Ariake Arena.

Both fighters tipped the scales within the division’s limit: Tsutsumi at 117.9 pounds and Higa at 117.7 pounds.

Tsutsumi (12-0-2, 8 KOs), the undefeated champion, has been rigorously training in Tokyo, honing his speed and precision. In his last five bouts, he secured two victories by knockout and three by unanimous decision, including a UD win over Takuma Inoue.

Meanwhile, Higa (21-3-1, 19 KOs), a former world champion, has been preparing in his hometown of Urasoe, Okinawa, focusing on power and endurance. Prior to a close unanimous decision loss to Yoshiki Takei (112-115, 113-114, 113-114), Higa had amassed four consecutive wins, two by knockout.

This bout promises an electrifying contest between Tsutsumi’s technical prowess and Higa’s formidable punching power.
