Friday night at the York Hall, Bethnal Green, London, light middleweight Gilbert Eastman was stopped in the closing seconds of the eighth and final round of a gruelling contest against Sam Webb of Chislehurst.

‘The Hurricane’ Eastman walked away from the ring at the end of the fight but once back in his changing room – he collapsed, hitting his head as he fell. Paramedics were on hand to help the Battersea boxer but he was rushed to hospital where a blood clot was removed from his brain.

Thankfully, Eastman came out of his coma on Sunday and it is hoped he will make a good recovery.

SaddoBoxing continue to send our thoughts to Gilbert and his family.
