Yesterday at the Quality Hotel in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, England, Frank Maloney and Impact Boxing hosted the official weigh-in ahead of tomorrow evening’s fight night, billed as ‘Stoking the Fire’.
Headlining the event at the Fenton Manor Sports Centre is the British and Commonwealth Flyweight title bout between local man Chris Edwards and Grimsby boxer Wayne Bloy with 9 other exciting contests completing an action-packed card.
A relaxed Edwards stepped up to the scales to weighin in at 7 stone 11 lb and 6 ounces (109.5 lb).
A cool-looking Wayne Bloy tipped the scales at 7 stone 12 lb and 13 ounces (110.75 lb).
A smiling Edwards confirmed to SaddoBoxing that he was ‘feeling great and excited about the fight night’.
Jimmy Doherty of Stoke grimaced as he realised that he was overweight at 11 stone 1 lb and 7 ounces (155.5 lb), but luckily for him opponent Kevin Hammond was also over the limit, weighing in at 11 stone 1 lb and 6 ounces (155.5 lb).
Hammond, of Lincoln, faces Jimmy ‘The Whirlwind’ in an eight round light middleweight contest.
Impact Boxing’s Scott Lawton will weigh in today. He was scheduled to defend his English Lightweight title against Henry Castle, but flu forced the Londoner to pull-out. Lawton now faces John Greaves of East Ham in a six round non-title lightweight contest.
