8 Count Boxing: Hernandez vs. Perez Headline “Windy City Fight Night” March 27

Two of Chicago’s proudest warriors, “Macho” Miguel Hernandez and Luciano “El Gallo Michocano” Perez will battle in the main event at the inaugural “Windy City Fight Night” on Friday, March 27 at the UIC Pavilion, it was announced today by Dominic Pesoli, President of 8 Count Productions.

“This fight has been brewing for the last few years and Chicago fight fans are in for an outstanding war as these two stake their claim as the king of Chicago boxing,” said Pesoli.

“They’ve both long made their mark as true warriors in numerous fights in Chicago and across the country

“Chicago has a great history of local fighters settling their often times, contentious feelings towards each other in the ring, this fight should be no exception.”

Hernandez brings a record of 20-8-0 (10) into the bout with Perez who sports a record of 16-9-1 (14). The scheduled ten round battle will be contested for the WBF Americas Middleweight Title.

Over his six year career, the 34 year old Hernandez has engaged in battles with former world champion Raul Marquez and Yory Boy Campas.

In 2006, he won the WBC United States Middleweight title from Ryan Davis in Coral Gables, Florida. The flashy and powerful Puerto Rican has long been a fan favorite for Chicagoland fight fans..

30 year old Perez is a native of Michoacan, Mexico. Fourteen months ago, he fought evenly with former world champion Carlos Baldomir, losing a highly disputed Solo Boxeo televised majority decision in Cabazon, California.

Perez’s five year career also includes wars with Jesus Soto Karass as well as a legendary blood filled bout that he won over Francisco Rincon in 2006 at Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom.

“With the new series, we want to kick off with a bang and this bout will provide fireworks from the opening bell,” said Pesoli.

“With Miguel and Luciano both having legions of loud and loyal fight fans, it should provide a great atmosphere for opening night.”

Advance tickets, starting at $30, for “Windy City Fight Night” are now on sale through the UIC Pavilion Box Office (312-413-5740) and through Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com).
