ByBoxing Press 09/05/2009

Oscar de la Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions and AEG announced today the launch of “Fight Night Club”, a monthly boxing series at the new Club Nokia in Los Angeles.

“Fight Night Club” will feature some of Golden Boy’s best up and coming professional boxing prospects in an upscale and intimate Club setting. The monthly series will kick off on June 11 and will be televised nationally on Versus at 9:00pm ET / 6:00pm PT.

In addition to the fights, fans will also get a chance to hear great music while enjoying the atmosphere and ambiance of one of LA’s newest premier night club destinations.

“This is a series we’ve wanted to do for a long time and with AEG, Club Nokia and Versus, we finally have the partners to do it right,” said De la Hoya, President of Golden Boy Promotions.

“Fight Night Club will focus on the future stars of this game and will show everyone just how champions are made. Some of the best fights I’ve ever seen have taken place at small club shows and now we have the opportunity to bring those fights to the world.”

“Boxing fans and sports fans alike will be energized by the unique and intimate atmosphere we are creating for ‘Fight Night Club’ in Club Nokia,” said Dan Beckerman, Chief Operating Officer, AEG.

“We appreciate the opportunity to once again work with our partners at Golden Boy Promotions to showcase their up-and-coming stars in this groundbreaking format.”

“Versus is always looking for different ways to present live sporting events to our viewers,” said Marc Fein, Executive Vice President of Programming, Production and Business Operations for Versus.

“This partnership with Golden Boy, AEG and Club Nokia is the perfect opportunity to showcase great fighters in a non-traditional way.”

“Fight Night Club” will present boxing in a night club atmosphere, with a DJ, music and a VIP room, as well as a unique setup where the ring is on Club Nokia’s stage with a standing room area for fans in front of the ring, as well as reserved seating in the balcony.

The best part for fans is that ticket prices range from just $28 for general admission to $65 for Mezzanine VIP seating.
