Osleys Iglesias Stops Oliver Zaren in Seven; Wilkens Mathieu Wins Split Decision
Osleys Iglesias kept his unbeaten record and both world titles with a seventh-round stoppage, but Wilkens Mathieu’s split decision over Vladimir Shishkin gave the card its most divided scorecards. Imam Khataev needed just over a minute to make his own statement.
Main Event
Osleys Iglesias stopped Oliver Zaren by TKO at 1:31 of round seven to retain the IBF and IBO world super middleweight titles. Iglesias moves to 16-0-0; Zaren is now 19-1-1.
Zaren went down twice in the sixth, and Iglesias finished the job in the next round. The judges’ scores through six rounds were 60-52, 59-53 and 58-54, all for Iglesias. A clear result, capped by the stoppage.
Co-Main Event
Wilkens Mathieu took a split decision over Vladimir Shishkin after 10 rounds, retaining the North American Boxing Federation super middleweight title. Mathieu is 17-0-0; Shishkin drops to 17-3-0.
The cards were sharply divided: Richard DeCarufel scored it 97-93 for Shishkin, while Benoit Roussel and David Therien both had it 98-92 for Mathieu.
Other Title Fights
Dzmitry Asanau outpointed Luis Santana by unanimous decision over 10 rounds to win the IBF Inter-Continental, North American Boxing Federation and WBC Continental Americas lightweight titles. All three judges scored it for Asanau: 98-91, 98-91 and 97-92. Asanau improves to 14-0-0, while Santana takes his first loss and falls to 16-1-0.
Imam Khataev needed only 1:09 to knock out Padraig McCrory in round one and claim the North American Boxing Federation light heavyweight title. Khataev moves to 13-1-0; McCrory is now 20-3-0.
Non-Title Undercard
Leila Beaudoin earned a unanimous decision over Brisa Abigail Rosario Alfonzo. All three judges scored it 100-89 for Beaudoin, who improves to 16-2-0. Alfonzo moves to 9-2-2.
Daylen Pepin stopped Matias Pinilla by TKO at 2:59 of round four. Pepin is now 3-1-0, with Pinilla at 1-3-0.
Jacob Blais picked up his first professional win, taking a unanimous decision over Yoan Trottier after four rounds. Each judge scored it 40-36. Blais moves to 1-1-0; Trottier is 0-3-0.
Iglesias and Khataev both finished inside the distance, while Mathieu’s split verdict supplied the night’s talking point on the cards.
