Floyd Schofield Defeats Lucas Bahdi in a Thrilling Battle for the WBA Lightweight Title – World Boxing Association

The Wintrust Arena in Chicago witnessed one of those nights when boxing delivers its most exciting, unpredictable and dramatic moments. In an action-packed roller coaster that crowned a new champion at 135 pounds, American Floyd “Kid Austin” Schofield captured the World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight world title with a unanimous decision victory over dangerous Canadian contender Lucas “Prince” Bahdi in an electrifying battle that saw both fighters hit the canvas.

Schofield’s consistency, punch output and hand speed over 12 rounds proved decisive on the official scorecards, with the judges scoring the bout 116-110, 119-108 and 115-111 in his favor.

The first major turning point came early in the fight. In the third round, Schofield found his range and landed a sharp left hand that badly staggered Bahdi, prompting the referee to administer a count. The Texan took control through the middle rounds with dynamic boxing, fluid combinations and constant movement, steadily building an advantage on the scorecards.

Just when the fight appeared firmly in Schofield’s hands, Bahdi’s feared punching power changed everything in the penultimate round. In the 11th, the Canadian unleashed a thunderous right hand that sent Schofield crashing to the canvas, bringing the crowd to its feet and injecting a massive dose of suspense into the closing moments.

Showing composure and resilience under fire, Schofield beat the count, survived the remainder of the round and managed the final three minutes intelligently, avoiding unnecessary risks to secure the unanimous decision and claim the WBA lightweight crown.
