Irusta and Colque Set to Clash at Club Jorge Newbery for WBA Fedelatin Southern Cone Title – World Boxing Association

This Friday, October 16, Club Jorge Newbery will host an action-packed showdown in the super lightweight division as Tomás Fermín Irusta and Dante Colque battle for the vacant WBA Fedelatin Southern Cone super lightweight title at 140 pounds.

Irusta enters the fight determined to seize the opportunity and strengthen his standing within the pioneering sanctioning body. Known for his composed style and solid defensive fundamentals, he will look to dictate the pace from the center of the ring. His strategy will center on establishing his rhythm behind the jab, using lateral movement to disrupt Colque’s advances, and unleashing straight-punch combinations through the middle whenever openings emerge in his opponent’s guard.

Across the ring, Colque brings an aggressive temperament and a proven appetite for hard, physical fights. He is not one to rely on long-range boxing. Instead, he looks to close the distance, cut off the ring, and force his opponents into exchanges at close quarters, where his hooks to the body and relentless aggression can help him neutralize fighters with superior technical skills.

If Irusta can contain Colque’s pressure with fluid footwork and tactical discipline, the fight could tilt in his favor. However, if Colque manages to turn the contest into a toe-to-toe battle along the ropes, the outcome could become unpredictable and electrifying.
