Taylor Brothers Added To Saturday Baltimore Show

ByBoxing Press 18/05/2011

Local fan favorites, The Brothers Taylor, Maxell and Emmanuel, are primed and ready to shine this Saturday night, May 21st at the second United Boxing Event at the Maryland Sportsplex in Millersville.

Headlining the United Boxing Event, older brother Maxell “The General”, 15-3-1 (6KO’s), will look to bounce back after challenging world ranked Donovan George in Chicago on April 1st. After seven action packed, evenly fought rounds, the bout was stopped and awarded to Windy City native George in the eighth.

The loss to George ended a five bout unbeaten streak for Maxell and he will look to get back on the winning track taking on Washington D.C. hard hitting veteran Purcell “Hard Rock” Miller, 23-5-1 (18KO’s), in the eight round super middleweight main event.

Younger brother Emanuel “The Tranzformer” has thrilled fight fans along the East Coast with his quick hands and stunning knockouts while amassing an undefeated record of 11-0-0 (9KO’s). He will face off against battle tested Texan Marcus Brashears, 8-14-1 (2KO’s) in a scheduled six rounder.

Emmanuel looked sensational at the debut United Boxing Event on April 15th stopping veteran Guadalupe Diaz. Although recently competing at slightly higher weights, he will be looking to fight at the junior welterweight limit of 140 pounds in his future bouts.

Only stopped once in his six year career, Brashears has faced numerous undefeated prospects, most recently upsetting undefeated, local favorite Josh Sosa on February 19th in Kansas City .

Longtime trainer of both brothers, Dave Sewell discussed the fights lined up for Maxell and Emmanuel this Saturday night.

“Maxell is coming off a tough loss but he’s been training hard for this fight. Miller’s a big puncher so it’s important to stay away from his right hand and take him into the later rounds which should benefit Maxell. We’ve had a terrific camp, not its time to shine in the ring.”

Speaking about Emmanuel, Sewell stated, “Emmanuel’s a very disciplined young man. He keeps on improving as we step up the competition and he sees different styles. He’s got the potential to be a world champion; he just has to work at it.”

In the six round co-main event on Saturday night, Baltimore fan favorite Jessie “The Beast” Nicklow, 21-2-3 (8KO’s) heads back to the ring against hard nosed Texas native James “Boogie” Freeman, 7-3-0 (6KO’s).

The undercard at the United Boxing Event will feature a trio of Maryland ’s finest undefeated prospects including welterweight James Stevenson, cruiserweight Nick Kisner and light heavyweight Dale Robeson-El.

Advance tickets priced at $50 and $35 may be purchased by calling 410-499-5361 or 301-873-7064. VIP Tables priced at $1,000 and $500 are also available.

The Maryland Sportsplex is located at 1031 Benfield Boulevard in Millersville , Maryland . For directions please visit their website at www.mdsportsplex.com. Doors on the night of the event will open at 6:30pm with the first bell at 8pm.

The clash between Spence and Tszyu had reportedly been lined up to take place in June. Tim did suffer a cut in his bout against Nurja, which could potentially delay proceedings. I am concerned that Spence has not fought for years now and having no warm up. This may show that he has not much left and cashing in. Tszyu secured a one-sided unanimous decision wi […]
