
The weekend was dominated by Ricky Hatton’s comeback fight against Vyacheslav Senchenko on Saturday, which sadly ended in defeat for the Hitman who then announced his retirement at the post-fight press conference.
The Hatton Promotions fight-night at the MEN Arena, Manchester, saw victory in it’s four Title bouts for St.Helens man Martin Murray, Bury Boxer Scott Quigg, Sergey Rabchenko of Belarus and Cardiff man Gary Buckland.
In Stoke-on-Trent, ‘Fight Factory’ hosted Fight-night 3 which featured five four-round bouts from local boxers.
In Newcastle-on-Tyne, Wraith Promotions hosted a fight-night which featured four contests from local boxers.
In Gloucester on Friday, Atherton’s William Warburton caused an upset when he won the vacant International Masters Welterweight Title by seventh round TKO. Warburton faced local man Chris Higgs of Lydney.
At the Elephant & Castle, Southwark, London, Matty Tew of Southampton won the vacant International Masters Lightweight Title by outpointing Ruben Movsesian of Georgia. The Show featured eight undercard fights.
At Oceana in Swansea, local man Tobias Webb outpointed Iain Jackson of Brighton over six rounds.
And at Leeds United FC Banqueting Suite, local man China Clarke won the vacant International Masters Cruiserweight Title by ninth round TKO over Paul David of Northampton.
Last night (Monday) Londoner – Leon Williams lost out on points to Latvian – Arturs Kulikauskis in an eight round Cruiserweight Contest.
Tonight (Tuesday) in a Robert Waterman Promoted Show – Peterborough Boxer Cello Renda faces Latvian Kirill Psonko for the vacant International Masters Middleweight Title at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, Bayswater, London.
And David Haye is in his final (third) week of ‘I’m A Celebrity, Get me out of Here!’ Having escaped public vote-offs so far – the Hayemaker is also proving a hit with his fellow camp-mates. He is managing to keep fit using the weight equipment provided by the shows producers but with meals such as kangaroo tail and back-side of Wallaby (mmm..yummy…) and never-ending rice and beans, all the contestants are losing weight fast. The Final of the show is on Saturday when the ‘King’ or ‘Queen’ of the Jungle is revealed. ‘King Hayemaker’ ? We’ll have to wait and see……
