Ringside Boxing: Curtis Woodhouse Vs Shayne Singleton

It was a great night of boxing Friday night, at Bowlers Exhibition Centre, Manchester, when (Dave) Coldwell Promotions hosted a fight-night which headlined an all-action battle for the BBBofC English Light-Welterweight Title.

Curtis Woodhouse of Driffield was defending his belt for the first time since winning it in September last year but despite a great performance in which he inflicted a bloody face to his opponent – Shayne Singleton of Colne was the victor by a split decision.

Both men landed with head and body-shots but Woodhouse spent the twelve rounds practically chasing his opponent around the ring (!)Popular Singleton – spurred on by his loyal army of fans – sustained cuts and swellings to both eyes and an injured nose and his face was awash with blood at the final bell. Woodhouse was deducted a point for hitting on a break in the tenth round.

The judges scored it 96-94; 96-95; 94-96.

Singleton improves to 14 wins (3 by KO) no losses Woodhouse drops to 17 wins (11 by KO) 5 losses (1 by KO)

Craig Watson (Manchester) v Mark Lloyd (Telford)
6 x 3 Light-Middleweight Contest

Lloydy (who had already sustained a cut high on the forehead earlier in the fight) was retired by his corner (round four) for a cut above the left brow.

Liam Conroy (Barrow-in-Furness) v Kieron Gray (Telford)

Conroy wins on points 59-56 and improves to 3 wins (1 by KO) and 1 loss
Slammer Gray drops to 5 wins (1 by KO) 12 losses (2 by KO) 1 draw

David Barnes (Manchester) v Ivan Godor (Bratislava, Slovakia)
6 x 3 Welterweight Contest

Barnes wins on points 60-54 and improves to 26 wins (11 by KO) 2 losses (1 by KO) and 2 draws.
Godor drops to 11 wins (6 by KO) 29 losses (6 by KO) and 4 draws

Hosea Burton (Manchester) v Carl Wild (Sheffield)
6 x 3 Light-Heavyweight Contest

Burton – who was to have fought Carl Dilks – won on points (60-54) against late opponent Carl Wild.
Burton improves to 6 wins (1 by KO)

Wild drops to 14 wins (1 by KO) 19 losses (5 by KO)and 5 draws

Prince Aaron (Droylsden) v Tyan Booth (Nottingham)

Liam Hanrahan (Macclesfield) v Elemir Rafael (Slovakia)

Hanrahan notches up his third TKO win of three.

Chris Healey (Stockport) v Paul O’Hagan (Gateshead)
4 x 3 Cruiserweight Contest

The fight was stopped when Healey sustained a bad cut to the left eye in the fourth round.
O’Hagan secures the win by stoppage and improves to 2 wins both by KO
Healey drops to 3 wins (1 by KO) 1 loss (1 by KO)
