Beyer, Vidoz Lead Way On German Boxing Card

ByCurtis McCormick 29/01/200629/01/2006

Markus Beyer successfully retained his WBC Super Middleweight title tonight in Berlin, Germany for the eighth time, strafing challenger Alberto Colajanni for the entirety of their twelve round skirmish before belting out the Italian for good in the final stanza. The 32 year old Colajanni came into the affair unblemished in eighteen outings but was clearly not accustomed to the level of violence brought to bear by Beyer, hitting the canvas in the fourth before falling twice in the fourth. For the German southpaw, this bout was purely an exercise as he bides his time for a much wanted unification clash with one of the other major world titlists.

On the undercard, former Olympic Bronze Medallist Paolo Vidoz solidified his hold on the European Heavyweight title by decisioning local Berliner Cegniz Koc after a twelve round scrap. The occasion marks the second time that the native of Gorizia, Italy has kept his belt since winning it over the best efforts of Timo Hoffman last June.
