WBA Update: Japan’s Kameda Brothers Get World Title Trifecta

On Thursday the Kameda brothers made history in the boxing world when the youngest brother won the world championship.
Tomoki Kameda became the new Bantamweight champion of the WBO. Tomoki equals the accomplishment of his brother Koki who recently defended his WBA bantamweight title.

On his behalf, a third brother, Daiki, alrready had the WBA Flyweight title.

WBA Interim champion Alberto “Chiquito” Rossel suffered a sprain during his training session that will prevent him from defending his 108-pound belt.

According to his manager and his training team, Rossel suffered a sprain in his left foot, and will not be able to fight on August 24 against the Mexican José Alfredo “Diablo” Zúñiga.

They also informed that the Boxing Commission will be in charge of sending the medical certification of the Interim champion.

Team Rossel hopes he will be ready in a month so he could fight mid September.

Today in Thailand, Japanese Challenger Koki Eto became the new WBA interim flyweight champion, when he defeated Kompayak Porpramook.

The battle took place in Bangkok, the visitor won by unanimous decision over Porpramook.
The judges’ score cards favored the Japanese 114-113, 114-113,116-111.

Porpramook had conquered the belt when he defeated former champion Jean Piero Pérez from Venezuela, who had taken it from Juan Carlos Reveco from Argentina, present Flyweight world champion.

Congratulations to the new WBA champion Koki Eto, who won the title from an experienced champion and showed a promising future.

The Directorate of the WBA will meet next week at the Westin Playa Bonita Hotel in Panama.
The working gatherings will be on August 8 and 9.

Directors will discuss interesting subjects like working reports of each director, presentation of the upcoming events and cases review.

The President of the WBA, Gilberto Mendoza, will direct the meetings that will gather 22 members
