In just his second fight back from a two year state sponsored vacation from the ring, Paul Spadafora was given a rocky reception last night at the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant, MI.
The former longtime IBF Lightweight Champion was stretched over ten rounds by unheralded Irish born Oklahoma man Oisin Fagan at light welter.
Now 31 years of age and nearing four years from his last world title fight, “The Pittsburgh Kid” was given all he could handle by his 33 year old opponent, who has beaten only two fighters with winning records.
When the smoke had cleared, Spadafora, 40-0-1 (16), escaped with a split decision victory via scores of 98-91, 97-93 and 95-96.
Fagan drops to 17-4 (10) with the loss.
