Friday night at the Watford Colosseum in Watford, England, World Sports Organisation promoter Jon Feld hosted a fight night headlined by the 10 round light heavyweight contest between Gary “JJ” Ojuederie and Joey Vegas.

This was to be 28 year old Ojuederie’s first defence of the Southern Area Light Heavyweight title, having won the belt on points against Andrew Lowe in May of this year.

26 year old native Ugandan Vegas, of Tottenham, was looking to ʽbreakʼ his losing streak after being defeated in his last three contests. The Friday fight night was to be a real ʽfamily-affairʼ as brothers JJ and Daley Ojuederie both featured as well as their step-brother Ojay Abrahams.

But it wasnʼt to be ʽtheirʼ night – as JJ struggled under the power shots of Vegas. Flying out of his corner at the start of round seven, Vegas subjected JJ to a barrage of shots which sees the champion take to the canvas.

Getting up from the count, JJ looks unsteady and referee Jeff Hinds calls off the contest. A thrilled Vegas falls to his knees, clearly ecstatic at the win. Vegas wins by TKO Round 7 and improves to 11-3 (4) while Ojuederie loses for the first time in 12 bouts to fall to 10-4-1 (2).

JJ’s ʽbrotherʼ, Daley Ojuederie of Watford, faced Anthony “Forever” Young of Crawley in a six round super middleweight contest.

Young is subjected to some good shots in round two but ʽcallsʼ his opponent on – gesturing that it was nothing. He takes some big body punches in round three and is finally stopped in the closing half minute of round four, having been subjected to some clubbing right hands and body shots. Looking unsteady, ʽForever Youngʼ was stopped by referee Bob Williams.

Daley Ojuederie wins by TKO in round four, taking his record to 1-0-1 (1) while Young falls to 4-11 (0).

Other undercard action on Friday night included:

Joe Smyth (St Albans) vs. Lee Kellett (Barrow-in-Furness)
4 x 3 cruiserweight contest
Smyth made light work of Kellett when he scored a first round TKO, notching up his second pro win.

Reider Walstad (Norway) vs. Sumaila Badu (Ghana)
4 x 3 featherweight contest
Norwegian boxer Walstad scored a points win over Ghanaian Badu to take his record to 18-2-2 (10).

Ashley Sexton (Cheshunt) vs. David Keogan (Birkenhead)
4 x 3 flyweight contest
There was big support for ʽFlashʼ Sexton as he made his pro debut against the Birkenhead man. It was a cracking contest between these two, who both put in a huge effort in the closing round, but it was Sexton who got the points victory, securing his first win as a pro.

Caine Brodie (London) vs. Jamie Norkett (Newark)
4 x 3 light heavyweight contest
Brodie gives up eight pounds to cruiserweight opponent Norkett but wins by points to achieve his second professional win.

Matthew Legg (Milton Keynes) vs. Howard Daley (Preston)
4 x 3 heavyweight contest
It was a quick night for Legg as he scored a second round stoppage over late replacement opponent Daley. Daley – the boxing policeman – had a frustrating night against Neil Perkins last time out and looked more relaxed as he came out for this heavyweight contest. But the Preston man suffered a barrage of shots which left him dazed in round two and referee Bob Williams stopped the contest. Legg improves to 4-1 (2).

Saud Hafiz (Watford) vs. Amir Nadi (Birmingham)
4 x 3 light welter contest
“Pretty Boy” Hafiz won by third round stoppage over Birmingham boxer Nadi. Nadi looked clearly unsteady after the shots sustained from Hafiz, but still protested when referee Bob Williams stopped the contest. Hafiz wins by TKO round three and improves to 3 wins and no losses.

  • Errol Spence v Tim Tszyu - June 2026 07/04/2026
The clash between Spence and Tszyu had reportedly been lined up to take place in June. Tim did suffer a cut in his bout against Nurja, which could potentially delay proceedings. I am concerned that Spence has not fought for years now and having no warm up. This may show that he has not much left and cashing in. Tszyu secured a one-sided unanimous decision wi […]
