Yesterday at the Victoria Shopping Centre in Nottingham, England, Hennessy Sports hosted the official weigh-in for tonight’s fight night which headlines the clash between local man Carl ‘The Cobra’ Froch and Canadian Jean Pascal for the WBC Super Middleweight title.

The upper floor balconies of the shopping mall were lined with supporters cheering on their home boy. Froch was quiet and stony faced as he stepped up to the scales, weighing in at 11 stone 12 lb and 9 ounces/166.5 pounds.

Montreal based Pascal looked more relaxed and enjoyed ‘winding’ the crowd up. He weighed in at 11 stone 13 lb and 10 ounces/167.75 pounds.

As the two men came together for the head to head, there was a lot of forehead-pushing and some goading which looked like it could have gotten out of hand – but BBBofC officials were on hand to keep things calm and the weigh-in passed off without a hitch.

Also weighing in was Walsall’s Martin Gethin, who was set to make the first defence of his English Lightweight title against Stoke’s Scott Lawton, who previously held the English belt.

Gethin – with his usual quiet and calm manner – took to the scales weighing in at 9 stone 9 lb/135 pounds followed by Lawton who came in just a pound lighter than his opponent at 134.

Lawton will be looking to quash Gethin’s unbeaten record of 15 wins and 1 draw and take the ttle back to Stoke. Lawton’s record stands at 24-4-1 (4).

Other weigh-in results included a ‘less-than-impressed’ looking Rod Anderton who challenges Norwich man and reigning champion Danny McIntosh for the English Light Heavyweight title. Confident McIntosh tipped the scales at 12 stone 5 lb and 9 ounces/173.5 pounds, followed by tattooed local man Anderton, who weighed in at 12 stone 4 lb and 9 ounces/172.5 pounds.

A grinning Paul David of Northampton weighed in at 11 stone 13 lb and 12 ounces/167.75 pounds. He faces Tyrone Wright of Nottingham for the vacant English Super Middleweight title in a rematch. Wright weighed in at 11 stone 13 lb and 5 ounces/167.5 pounds. The pair fought in May with Wright winning a decision for the vacant Midlands Area Light Heavy crown.
