Cuban 2004 Olympic gold medalist and former world heavyweight championship contender Odlanier Solis (18-1, 12 KOs) and former WBC Silver welterweight champion Selcuk Aydin (23-2, 17 KOs) held a press conference in Berlin, Germany, talking about their upcoming bouts at “Universal Hall” this Friday, March 22nd.

“It feels good to be back in Germany”, said Solis. “I started my pro career over here and still have lots of friends in Berlin. In my last fight in Germany I suffered a bad injury when challenging Vitali Klitschko. But now me knee is well again. The long-awaited unification bout between WBA cruiserweight champion Denis Lebedev (25-1, 19 KOs), from Chekhov, Russia, and WBA cruiserweight champion in recess Guillermo “El Felino” Jones (38-3-2, 30 KOs), from Colon, Panama, will take place on May 17 at Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia.

Jones’ promoter Don King is thrilled to have his fighter appearing in Moscow with co-promoters Andrey Ryabinsky and Vlad Hrunov. (more…)

A media lunch for the Los Angeles boxing press was held on Saturday afternoon for WBA/IBO Middleweight Champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin and contender Nobuhiro Ishida who will clash on Saturday, March 30 in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

Banner Promotions congratulates Ruslan Provodnikov for a great fight and living up to all of our expectations last Saturday night when he took on WBO Welterweight champion Timothy Bradley on HBO World Championship Boxing.

The bout, which took place in Carson, California, was a thrilling battle for Provodnikov as he rocked and hurt the undefeated champion repeatedly and was controversially denied knockdowns in each of the first two rounds and was able to send Bradley to the canvas late in the twelfth round for which Bradley barely beat referee Pat Russell’s count. “It’s important for Solis to get back into the ring”, says promoter Ahmet Oner. “He only fought once last year. We got to keep him active, At the same time it doesn’t help if he just beats tomato cans and journey man. (more…)

Derry Mathews insists the power in British boxing has shifted from Manchester to Liverpool – and he will prove that by beating Anthony Crolla again in ‘No Retreat, No Surrender’ live on Sky Sports from the Echo Arena in Liverpool on March 30.

Mathews ripped the British lightweight title from Crolla in the 2012 fight of the year with a sixth round stoppage in Oldham in April. The Liverpool man welcomes the Manchester star into his backyard as they clash for the vacant Commonwealth title, and after seeing ‘Million Dollar’ off in hostile surroundings, the 29 year old is ready for the tables to be turned on a huge night of boxing on Merseyside. Menay “the emperor” Edwards – fresh from a shut out win over former British Champion Shane McPhilbin, takes on his toughest test to date on April 5 in the Goodwin Promotions promoted “Its Banjo time” show, at Grays Essex, when he takes on Arturs Kulikauskis (9-15-3).
