  • Chavez Jr, Fonfara Talk About Tomorrow’s Fight In Los Angeles

    Popular Mexican superstar and former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and dangerous brawler Andrzej Fonfara participated in the final the final press conference Thursday at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, just two days before Saturday’s Showtime Championship Boxing doubleheader.

    Chavez (48-1-1, 32 KOs) of Culiacan, Mexico, and Fonfara (26-3, 15 KOs) of Chicago by way of Radon, Poland, will meet in the 12-round light heavyweight main event live on Showtime at 10 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. PT from StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.     On Saturday night, April 18, at the GPG Event Center in Pennsauken, New Jersey, undefeated featherweight Vidal Rivera will look for his second consecutive win when he takes on Tyron Stewart in a bout scheduled for four rounds.

    In the main event, heavyweight contender Chazz Witherpsoon will be in action when he takes on Galen Brown in a bout scheduled for 10 rounds.

    At the beginning of April, newly licensed Connecticut boxing promoter, A.J. Galante, introduced his company – Prize Promotions. Galante spoke of his goal of bringing “Old School” boxing to Connecticut.

    To prove he is serious about his vision, Galante has turned his matchmaking over to Hall of Fame Philadelphia promoter, Russell Peltz, along with one of the sports’ youngest and most promising promoters and matchmakers, Brittany “Bam” Rogers. (more…)

    Boxing superstar Amir Khan (30-3, 19 KOs) returns to the ring to take on former world champion Chris Algieri (20-1, 8 KOs) on Friday, May 29, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York as the Main Event in an exciting Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) card on Spike TV.

  • Rigondeaux Heading To UK To Confront Mandatory Challenger Quigg

    Unified super bantamweight world champion Guillermo “The Jackal” Rigondeaux (15-0, 10 KOs), arguably the most avoided reigning world title holder in modern boxing history, will travel to London next month in order to publicly confront his mandatory challenger, Scott Quigg (30-0-2, 22 KOs), the WBA “regular” 122-pound division titlist.

    A month ago in an unusual move, Rigondeaux’ manager Gary Hyde formally petitioned the WBA to enforce a mandatory title fight between his WBA Super champion and Quigg. Hyde is awaiting the WBA’s decision. Rigondeaux is also the WBO super bantamweight champion. (more…)

    Norwegian world champion boxer Cecilia Brækhus today announced a new management and representation consortium including IMG, a global leader in sports, fashion and media, and K2 Promotions and Klitschko Management Group (KMG), Wladimir Klitschko’s boxing promotional and management companies.

    Brækhus’ own promotion and management companies, First Lady Promotions (FLP) and First Lady Sport (FLS), will work alongside IMG, K2 Promotions and KMG.

    Brækhus, 33, is currently the undisputed Women’s world welterweight champion, holding the WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO titles simultaneously.
