Broke a knuckle a while back and it is taking a considerable amount of time to heal. If I punch at full force the pain is still pretty bad...
Any ideas on ways to help with the healing process or ways of better protecting the affected area?
Cheers.

i broke my knuckles when i punched my computer screen about 2 yrs ago..
it hurt like crazy for a couple of months, then it seemed better, but even up till this point when i hit hard enought it starts to hurt quite a bit.
so sorry for not being able to answer, but i too would like an answer to this question
it might help people to find out which knuckle or knuckles you are talking about. Mine happens to be my middle finger knuckle
yeah umm i would reccomend to stop punching full power til it healsthat could make it last longer. how long since you broke it?

Does your knuckle swell up afterwards? Icing will take away the swelling but to speed up the healing you gotta go through heat treatments. Get a heat pad, run your hand under hot water, or whatever turns your skin red and gets the blood pumping to your hurt knuckles. If you can afford it have your doctor refer you to a physical therapist just tell them your a boxer.
From what I hear the heat treatments work a helluva lot better than the pills a doctor will prescribe so nonchallantly. A good machine that makes the heat treatment work better is swirling machine kinda like a washing machine with hot water and epson salts. Make sure you theres no swelling before you start any sort of heat treatment.
Quit aggrivating your knuckles. Throwing bombs will hurt you more than anything else if your knuckles haven't finished healing. Get the longer hand wraps and make a couple more turns around your knuckles, and wrap in between your fingers to keep the wraps from moving.
And anyone who breaks their hand on a computer screen is an idiot.
If you hear a voice within you saying that I am not a painter, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.
Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I appreciate all the help greatly. Its been about 4 months, there is no major swelling after training and the pain is not unbearable but i dont want to redamage or make the injury any worse than it already is. I will have to look into the heat treatment, it sounds like it could be a solution. Thanks again. Peace.

Good luck with that. Another thing with heat treatments don't apply it for more than 20 minutes at a time. On another note moist treatments work better than a dry heating pad. You can get a small towel and a bucket of hot water and wrap the hot towel around your hand and making sure the towel stays hot and steaming.
Like I said take it easy on the knuckles and add a little extra padding for protection. You can also do training on your hand grip to make your hands stronger and a little more resilient.

Comfrey herb smashed into a pultise and wrapped around your knuckle.
Its was known as bone knit herb for obvious reasons.
Comfrey can be cancer forming if taken internally in large doses,so it is banned in lots of places.
but health food shops or private herbalists are still in the know on who supplies fresh plants.(grows like a weed so buy your own plant).
Anica ointment is an amazing fast help in bone bruise extractions too which can be the cause of continual pains.
