Re: does everybody have a bad sparring day?
Anyone can tell you that sparring is a learning experience. One lesson I learned is don't take anyone lightly even if they're your friend. I remember when I sparred with my buddy I was like a machine slipping, ducking, punching, then I clocked him with a hard right hook. It surprised me just as much as it did him, I was afraid that I hurt him, so I threw a powder-combo and I kept thinking he was hurt, boy did he look shook. Then I made my big mistake, don't let your guard down. His head cleared and right then he ripped me with a wide left hook to the ear that I should have ducked. This is when headgear would've came in handy, now I was the guy with painful ringing in my ear, and that can be distracting especially if you never felt them before.
At this point I just crumbled because my attention was starting to slip. I started backing, ducking a couple wide shots, I threw a right hand sucker punch and boom I get countered with a cheap punch to the back of my head. It nearly knocked the eyeballs out of my head because I can tell you that everything flashed white for a moment. I might as well closed my eyes at that point because I left myself open. Boom, took a shovel hook to the solar plexis. It knocked the wind out of me now I had to take a knee. That was 3 years ago but it left one impression on me protect yourself at all times.
If you hear a voice within you saying that I am not a painter, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.
