Default Why do women tennis players grunt so noisily?

Leave us grunters in peace, urges Azarenka - Yahoo! News UK

Why are they so noisy? The men are not so bad. Of course, some of them grunt, but generally speaking they are pretty quiet, or else not as noisy as the women, who really seem to grunt with a kind of guttural force that defies all sense of reason. I was watching a game with 2 players, who's names I cannot recall and most definitely will not try to spell, and the noises they were making were just bizarre. I was actually laughing at the television and my wife had to ask me if I was okay. It just seemed so ridiculous and brought back the heady days of Monica Seles and then I saw the article I linked above.

What are your thoughts on women tennis players and their grunting noises?

I can understand that they are trying to hit the ball fairly hard, but I couldn't imagine myself groaning like that because I've hit a ball with a racquet. It's just insane. It's like kicking a penalty shot and then screaming at the top of your voice because you made contact with the ball. I don't know if that is neccessary really.

Yes, they do wear very short skirts and lots of the players don't seem to be wearing a bra. I see nipples everywhere.

it's related to the whole exhale on effort, like some martial artists/boxers snort when they punch but with tennis it's not just when the ball hits string, you follow through the stroke with the racket head, hence the prolonged grunts No need for it really, it's how they've been coached.

It's totally disproportional to the exertion they're actually making.

    Bums on seats I suppose.

There is a big discussion on a tennis forum I go on about this grunting thing. I find it annoying when it gets extreme. Here's a vid of a girl who is up and coming who is just absurd. Almost makes Sharapova, Azarenka and Serena look quiet.

Actually the vid is of Sharapova and De Brito; fukking annoying. That #tch needs a shock collar put around her neck.

I hate it too. I had a girlfriend who was extremely loud having sex. Like some porn star. I broke up with her.

Sex sells I guess. The same goes for athletics, women where 'em short and tight. Women's volleyball in the olympics is like that. Basketball is one exception. I think it's kind of silly what they have to wear, it detracts from the sport, but the women don't seem to mind. More money in their pocket?

Probably Wimbledon is the only tennis event that forces the women to wear short white skirts. It's pretty pretentious that way.

Women want to wear things like this all the time. They love the attention. A sport with rules like this is perfect for the glory-hunting bloddsucking woman.

    Booze is the man!

I don't really mind what women wear, I just want to watch a game of tennis without the neighbours thinking I'm watching a slow motion porn flick on high volume.
