I've just read Hands Of Stone the Duran biography and noticed something I never noticed before.

People of Spanish descent have a third name they never use, for eg Roberto Duran Samaniego. What is this and why don't hey use it or carry it forward? Probabl something so simple I'll be embarrassed when you point it out!...

you 'take' both parents last name.
