Does every boxer have to have an amateur career? Or have to have an upbringing in boxing?

This can never make a mockery of boxing. I hate cricket but im definately interested to see how he will handle this major transition.

A millionaire celebrity decides to take a chance at boxing, takes a lot of interest and limelight away from professional boxing only to see it blow up in his face in 6months-1 years time.

The casual fan will leave disappointed and feeling mislead.
In the mean time a lot of hype will be needlessly be expended seeking profit but in no way benefiting boxing.

This distraction/career will refocus money/interest which would otherwise would of helped young fledgling boxers, generate quick profits and in no way benefits boxing.

Boxing "harvesting" any exposure that isnt immediately negative, is positive for the sport.
Whether its Freddie,Ian Botham or Ricky Ponting, the sport is in the news. The fact it doesnt involve drugs or an assualt is a step in the right direction surely.

Everybody has the right to attempt a boxing career if they so choose. That includes Dia Bando, Boyla and Andrew Flintoff.
Why should he be excluded just because he has already been successful in another sport?
What he is doing takes balls - as it does for anybody stepping in the ring.

This will be a good thing for boxing, Andrew respects boxing and is showing how hard it is. Good luck to him taking on an undefeated US salesman.

What I'm pissed about,there are a lot of hard working fighters out there that will never get ant limelight,
or a fight on TV, Ask a lot of pro fighter I bet , they are pissed off at all the hype he is receiving , good
for the circus .

If it makes boxing look so bad why are Boxnation (Frank Warren's home of boxing) showing it?

Personally I hope he gets sparked out (without getting seriously hurt of course).

Ive been told that if Freddie wins this one easily , then after another 5 fights Tyson Fury will concider Dawson as a future opponant !
