I hate lists. No such thing as the best three but of the top of my head, ones that still stand the test of time
1. Crass - The Feeding of the 5000
2. Bus Station Loonies - Mad Franks Zonal Disco
3. Buzzcocks - Singles going steady
But on another day it could be another 33. The Stooges - The Stooges should really be way up there as a seminal album that Punk would not have happened without. Punk for me is about an attitude. A willingness to do it yourself and fly against the prevailing wind. Be original and f*%k what anyone thinks. By those criteria you would have to include Talking Heads, Magazine, Gang of Four and even people like Suicidal Tendencies, Sacred Reich, Napalm Death et al.
How can you not have Siouxie and the Banshees and the Slits ? John Cooper Clarke's poetry. In fact albums are quite an un punk rock thing to do. Penny Smith the photographer should have made an album of images but punk albums are a bit guilty of eating themsleves. If you can't say it in under 2 minutes and preferably 2 then f*&k off![]()
I'm not so much a connoisseur of punk albums, and I don't want to list something as "punk" and then have people say "Well that ain't punk" for a nonconformist, no labels kind of genre there are people within the walls of punk that set guidelines.
The bands I like are as follows:
Iggy & The Stooges
The Ramones
Crass
The Sonics
The Modern Lovers
New York Dolls
MC5
Cock Sparrer
Sex Pistols
But I think THE song that really kicked everything off is
...it's just simple 3 chord rock plain as you like
I'm more a big band or Blue grass man myself![]()
The thing is back then you would find "punk" in bits and pieces, literally whatever you got dubbed and tons of home made compilations. You'd hear 2,3 jams from 10+ groups and it wasn't until you got the full album or tape that you saidOh shit..its got a B side! Punks didn't have money for no albums
. The very first 3 albums I received were bought as presents by my oldest sister, god rest her beautiful soul, and they were Bad Religion: How could Hell be any worse...Social Distortion: Mommies little monster...Bad Brains: I against I.
From a personal fav and one a random three you can bury with me?
Bad Brains! Bad brains
The Minutemen..Double Nickles on a dime
Dead Kennedys..Give me convenience or give me death
Mod music? You knowhttp://youtu.be/N3yXumNMW2E

My favourite when I was a teen was Slayer's "Undisputed Attitude", it's a whole album of Slayer doing old hardcore covers. It fucking rules.
Guilty of Being White
Spiritual Law
I'm off work in 10 minutes, I think I'm gonna blast this driving home!!
