Damn convincing article!
He's one of those guys will always be in the top ten hevyweights lists but never the top rten p4p lists, illustrating the fact that his excellence was founded primarily on his size and strength rather than boxing prowess. However, fair play to the big man, he was hard beat even in his forties![]()

I don't think he is overly overrated simply because he was such a physical phenomenon. Granted if he had Eddie training him since he was small like Tyson was taught he would be the best ever. He was so strong, and had a good chin, but he had too many flaws to be invincible. I have a hard time seeing him beat prime Lewis, Liston, Ali. I even think that old Foreman would beat young Foreman simply because young Foreman would tire himself out, and old Foreman had a better and FASTER jab.
forman is underrated to me. his name seems to almost never come up when people talk about great heavyweights. all you ever hear is ali, louis and the other usual suspects.
Penalizing someone for being freakishly strong IMO is rather stupid. It would be like someone saying Jesse Owens is overrated because he was freakishly fast![]()
hell no--hes only been ko once---by muhammad ali. i still cant imagine how jimmy young survived his punches. any way he comes back as an old man-nobody could ko him--a 10+ chin and the second hardest puncher in heavyweight history and oldest hw champ puts him in top 10.
hardesthw punchers
1-earnie shavers
2. george foreman
3-rocky marciano--the original hard hitter
what about dempsey, liston and tyson?Originally Posted by undefeated

No. He was never known for his skill but he had an ability to use what tools he had as best as he could and it worked. Definately not overrated
