I need Boxing help!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a 45 year old male. I have admired many people I seen through the years that posess boxing skills, hit the speed bag, heavy bag, jump rope etc.... I have been bodybuilding for 20 years and I am in fairly good shape for my age at 160lbs with I was told "a boxers build". Anyway all the real boxing gyms (I do not count kick boxing, etc-I did not want that) were so far away from my home. To my delight, they just opened a boxing/training gym near my home. Here is my question. I joined and am hooked, however I do not want to give up bodybuilding. Is there a routine I can follow where I can bobybuild 2 days a week from my normal 4 days/week and box 2 days a week.? Is that enough boxing? I do not want to fight in the golden gloves but am willing to learn all I can. Thank you. Please help. You can email me at ltstarch@aol.com
Re: I need Boxing help!!!!!!!!!!!!
It all depends on what you want from boxing. If you want to fight in the future then 2 days a week isn't enough but if it is just a hobby then 2 days should be ok. Not to sure about Bodybuilding and boxing together, Boxing isn't about Muscle mass that could hold you back in the future. You said you are 160 lbs but how tall are you ?

Re: I need Boxing help!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seems a small build for s body builder but if you are 5''8 and 160lbs that is ideal and you can still carry on bodybuilding without affecting speed too much. Good luck for thr future in boxing.

You can still do a boxing routine, just don't overwork yourself. If I were you I would spit it up in sessions because both would deplete your body's nutrients and glucogen. If you're a body builder then you probably already know this. Make sure you have something to replenish your energy and your body's fuel after you're done working out.
You can do some roadwork too, I won't push yourself too hard or your going to do yourself a lot of harm. You get yourself a jump rope and check out the gym before you go off and buy any boxing equipment.
