Mike McCallum Gave Roy Jones Jr A Tougher Fight Than I Remember.
I was just watching this one again from my Roy Jones Jr career set, and the fight was tougher than i remember, McCallum gave Roy all he could handle for the 1st 6 rounds, then Jones adjusted by circling in a different direction then he started to win the rounds more comfortably, but man McCallum is tough as hell and he gave Jones one of his toughest fights of Jones career in his prime. And McCallum was 39 as well, McCallum truly is an underrated great fighter.

I remember the report on the fight in boxing monthly, titled 'Loved up'
Jones carried the bodysnatcher.
McCallums KO of Donald Curry was amazing, it was that good Lou Duva got a cut eye :D

You think he could of stopped McCallum if he hadn't shown as much respect Memphis ??

Yea he dropped him right at the end of the round in the 10th round i think it was, he was also landing huge shots in the 12th, i think he just respected McCallum so he carried him, just like Sugar Ray Robinson did with Henry Armstrong.

This may have been discussed already, but did anyone else think that McCallum looked very unconditioned in that fight, as if he was resigned to defeat so he didn't train his hardest?

Jones said after "why take a crazy chance with someone I can outspeed and outbox"....Cant argue that. The boo's did not seem to bother him and once he dropped McCallum at end of round 10 he seemed to try for a KO In the last two rounds. The judging was crazy, they had 6 total Lol,3 from WBC & 3 from Flordia commission.

Mike McCallum best days were behind him, he retired after the next fight against Toney. He put on one last brilliant performance in beating Harding at light heavy, but that was not his best weight but he still performed outstandingly well.
