Catch is, If I'm caught thats the amateurs gone forever....Is it worth the risk?

Are you hard up and what are your future plans at amateur?
Is £250 really worth it?
I got offered £200 to fight (I'm not saying who off! hahaha) when I hadn't trained for 2 months and had basically broken my wrist.
Wasn't worth fighting out of practice with one good hand (my weak one! :P) Forget punching... I had no strength for clinching or anything... couldn't even pore my drinks! ;)
They must be stricter over there, here semi-pro is more or less considered exhibition finding, and doesnt count against your amateur card
i'd do it, unless you intend on going to the olympics, or are just not ready...foget the cash, the experience will be worth it besides how many months gym dues can you pay with $500?
just saying....
Dont bastardise yourself, dont give them the satisfaction of knowing you can be bought. It will down the line come back to haunt you, trust me.
I would have thought with the Irish national title owned your next big goal would be the olympics?
Man I was tempted....
But I have plans...
The Olympics isn't my scene, I admire those guys, but in honesty with my style I would NOT be good enough. The concentration on clean points ratehr than style and pressure is not for me.
With my style however, I'd be good over 6-10-12 rounds, of that I'm sure.
One and a half more years at amateur and then I'll turn. But that was great money for boxing a guy I know I could beat. But as Scrap said, I envisioned them calling back for "favours" and the minute I declined something they'd probably just dob me in.
Have you spoken about it with your trainer?
I wouldnt do it Donny its not worth the risk unless you are totally skint.Plus if you are just getting over the flu (which I am too and its effected my sparring no end) then you aint gunna be on form and the last thing you wanna do is lose cus you wernt 100% fit.
Other breaks will come your way im sure.
Good to hear you decided against it. It's almost a cert you'd have been caught out.
A wise choice not to go ahead Donny mate. I always think you should start the way you mean to continue. You should decide when the time is right and then go pro with a clean conscience and no skeletons to come back and bite you in the.... erm.... ring ;D
Ha Ha very well put.
I'm thinking I'll really benefit from a year or more in the amateurs anyway. I'm still boxing Under 21 I guess:p
Under 21's next year Regional and national, then the Intermediates regional and national, then the Intervarsity Seniors, then the Intervarsity Opens, then The British and Irish Intervarsities.
Thsts 6 more potential titles there I guess.
