Am I the only one who doesnt care for Margarito?
I dont know just something about him just doesnt rub me the right way?
I mean im glad that hes more exciting to watch than the average fighter, he throws mad bombs and combos galore.
It may be the way he carries himself however? I think he got lowsy sportsmanship. Off the top of my head I really was offended with the way he did not concede and hug it up or even shake Paul Williams hand after losing to him? I thought that was really up there in some of the more UNsportmanship like behavior in the sport.
Last night when he was taunting Cintron telling him to get up so he could beat him down some more, now thats gotta go! I can not stand that.
I think as a fighter Margarito is slightly above average and is a more exciting fighter to watch than most others, but I do not think he is a great as ARUM hypes him up to be.
Anyways I hope COTTO knocks his asss out if not PBF so we can be done with him.

Hey TUA; it's the way you feel, no harm in that. I love Tony and have always beeen a huge fan of his. Not the greatest ever, but rugged, fierce and comes to fight.
I will agree with you on the point of how he acted after the Williams fight; totally classless. I guess just him probably thinking what a huge gap in his career it could have turned into is what made him so bitter. He was supposed to get a fight with Cotto if he had beat Williams, and maybe saw $$$ signs and his chance to be a much respected figure in boxing go down the drain. Still, it was a shock to see him act that way; very disappointing.
As far as taunting Cintron?? I loved it; I can't stand Cintron and I seem to remember Curmit making some booby boy youtube video calling out Margarito and taunting him. He got what he deserved IMO. Maybe not classy, but I personally enojoyed it.

You echo my sentiments entirely about Margarito. Firstly, I didn't buy into the massive hype so I watched some of his matches against cab drivers and thought 'ok fair enough' but every match I've seen him in against elite or near elite he hasn't looked good.
Then his behaviour after the Williams fight was deplorable. Terrible sportsmanship to call the fight a robbery. Not a guy I like and I hope that Cotto mops the floor with him and smashes his ribs. I just hope Cotto's new found confidence/arrogance was just a one off in his fight with Gomez because he knew that he was in a different league. He can't afford to be walking into Margarito with his hands down and winding up his punches ala Roy Jones. He needs to go back to being the cold calculated killer for his match against Marg.

hey karma 7rep pts buddy for not biting my head off LOL. i guess i just really am not sold on margarito. i mean i wanted kermit to win, but just watching in the prefight conferences and stairdowns and even walking to the ring i see he was truly afraid of margarito and 9/10 u not gonna beat a guy u are scared of LOL.
about the williams fight he should have just did the fake hug it up that everyone else does.
i mean im a huge fan of JMM and he even did the fake hug it up thing after the 2nd pac fight. LOL

I think Margarito is vastly overrated. WHo has he beaten? He barely beat Clottey who was winning that fight until he got hurt, Paul Williams beat him as well. Cintron was an untested prospect who folded twice under the pressure, I was especting it, and most of your were expecting, and if you didn't well you should have. Until Margarito proves his style is actually effective against somebody with any semblance and of a defense unlike Cintron, and the defense thing goes with WIlliams as well, then I will respect him for his style, but he is nothing even close to Duran like some people compared him.

i dont think we have to worry about cotto getting to cocky and flash showboating. i think youre right he just knew gomez was not on his level, but even so cotto didnt go over board with the showboating IMO.

Good points Tuaman.Sometimes a fighters mannerism's and Emotions can come off disrespectful.Margarito ,make no mistake is not a great technician or task master ,but Ive never seen him pretend to be any thing except what we see with our own eyes.His defense is lacking....his "Jab" is sometimes reduced to a pawing range finder at times and his slow starts are notorious.He does get this machismo thing going in nearly all off his fights.I can not knock a guy for a little fistic attitude in the moment though.When he has you where he wants you,he gives you a smirk and nods his head at you.He did it In the Santos fight after Santos rocked him with a temple shot early,It just seem to piss Tony off and he was waiving Santos in and smiling at him and proceeded to stalk and rake Santos over on the ropes until the cut caused a s!!! call Imo.
Make no mistake,Cotto is much more polished a fighter,But Margarito will do what he has always done with a hard nose solid workrate fight.This will be a solid fight for both while Mayweather diddles with the Diva.

Yeah, but quite a few on here were giving Golden a chance at taking Margo to the limit, making a good fight, if I remember correctly.
That said, yeah, it was Olden Johnson in there. But give Tony credit, he did exactly what he was supposed to do and made it a very early night. Would have looked worse had he let Johnson take him the distance.
We'll all be thanking Margarito for being around after him and Cotto fight; what a classic it will be, no matter who wins.
