After watching this last fight I am convinced that Paulie needs to get rid of the most overrated trainer I've ever seen, Buddy McGirt. What has Buddy done to improve Paulie? Nothing! Paulie has gotten progressively worse since McGirt became his trainer. Come to think of it, when has any fighter not gotten progressively worse after McGirt coming in? I actually like Paulie, it was hard to do with those horrible hair extensions, I really hope he pulls the trigger on Buddy.
I always think Buddy has the best advice in the corner it always makes it hard to say he's not a good trainer. But it's true his fighters just always seem under prepared or just not that good and almost always not as good as previously thought. It's interesting but still, I don't go to the gym with Paulie everyday I don't know who else would be better for him.
I just see an average fighter in Paulie. He's supposed to be a fast, slick, counterpuncher but to be honest he's just fast. He's very easy to hit and he's not even really a counter puncher. Most of his offense is just week little jabs and shoeshine stuff. I think he's going to lose once he steps up past Cherry and N'dou.
I agree with you he does seem to have good things to say to his fighters. So maybe it's something that goes on in his camps. I think Paulie is a decent fighter, but the way he's performed in his last two fights makes things not looking good for the future for him.
Paulie needs to get rid of his hair stylist.
The main problem with a lot of the top trainers out there, is they take on too many fighters and don't give enough attention to each one, for example Freddy Roach with Alex Arthur most of the time Alex didn't even see Freddy, and he was unable to even attend the fight to be in his corner a while back, because he was busy with Manny.
Malignaggi has been training mainly with other trainers and Buddy comes to him for final preparations and to run his corner.
All well and good saying you are trained by these guys but they got to stop spreading themselves so thinly and take more responsibility for the fighters they apparently coach.

Maybe Paulie just isn't that talented of a fighter to begin with, and then he didn't bother to properly prepare for the fight. That's on Paulie, not McGirt.
No doubt!! Didn't they say McGirt was upset because Pauline broke training camp to go train in Sicily for 2 weeks? A trainer can only do so much, the rest is up to the charge. No telling how much time was wasted getting that silly hair-doo put together:rolleyes:Quote:
