Ive imported a shit load of stuff that should see me through to the new year and Im currently making myself a bit sick with it all. I just want a taste of everything and have been going a bit mad. Got a delicate tummy now!
British food gets a bad rep but Ive been to a far few places and no place comes close to what the UK has in terms of food IMO.
Anything has to be better than Korean dog soup:p
Re: British food is the best
Miles,I think your suffering from temporary insanity because your homesick or something.
Id put a real Philly Cheesesteak or Tastycake a NYC knish,or any LA Mexican dish against anything from the Isles. And dont even get me started on proper Pizza

I don't know about LA Mexican dishes, but the ones here in Tx. are probably just as good. My fave food is Mexican; especially langua{cow tongue} on corn tortillas, with a plate full of spanish rice, chips and hot sauce and I'm in heaven. Then finish with some sopa pia's{ did I spell that right?} And breakfast tacos with chorizo or ham and eggs with rice and chips; mmmmmm that's good eating.
Re: British food is the best
Are the brews preferred served at room temperature ?

Indeed!! The dog soup is hugely popular here in the Summer. Ive never tried it though and dont think I will.
I dont eat much Korean food. They do great barbecued chicken in a sauce Ive never tasted back home. And their galbi (char grilled beef) is good.
Beyond that its all about kimchi and side dishes laced with chilli sauce or powder. I just find it to get really boring and quickly so.
I like good chocolate but I cannot eat any of the chocolate here. Just tastes so lame. Crisps come in a variety of 3 flavours. Plain, onion or squid. Just too lacking for me.

What's a crisp? Is that like what Americans call potato chips?

Some of that sounds really good too. Mexican food is quality.
Yes, you may have a point with the insanity thing. I live a strange life and may very well be going completely mad.
English grub is good though. Roast dinners are something heavenly. And good old fashioned stew. Even freshly baked bread is something I could get excited about. English confectionary is splendid too. I love the chocolates we have. Aero's, and all those types of Cadbury's stuff, Rolo's.
Im having a cup of tea and a packet of McCoys flame grilled steak. This might seem quite normal for anyone in the UK, but for me here, this is the height of luxury.

Brew as in beer?
Beer is served chilled. Though I did see an ice bucket being brought out for a bottle of red wine one time. :-\

Yes, they taste as revolting as they sound. They are probably the most common flavour out here. You can go and see a movie here and you can choose between hot dogs, popcorn.........and you guessed it......a dried out squid. Oh, the aroma as you try to relax and watch a film!! ;D

Hahaha!! I didnt even think of that!! ;D
Chuseok is a main holiday in Korea along with the Chinese New Year. Next week actually. Usually around these times in the supermarkets they make a lot of gift sets for people to take to the hometowns and give to family. These gift sets could be collections of shampoo, fruit, cutlery, prime Korean beef or whatever and they are all sold at hyper inflated prices and sold as luxury items.
One of the most popular gift items is a box set of 8 tins of Spam packaged with 2 smallish bottles of Soybean oil. This is being sold for about 100 dollars as a set. Im not joking when I say that this shit is flying off the shelves.
I would die a thousand deaths if anybody ever went to the effort of giving me this gift.
