Anyone Else Think That If Shane Beats Margarito, PBF Will Want Shane?
If Floyd has showed us anything the last 4 years it is that he only likes to fight guys he thinks he has the style to beat with the smallest risk and the biggest profit. Thats not a knock on Floyd, but I believe its true. I give Shane about a 35-40% chance of beating Mararito by close decision or maybe a TD. He is clearly past it but he may have a good style to beat Marg or he may have luck on his side. If he pulls it off I think Floyd will jump at the opportinity to fight him. It looks like Hatton-Pac is set and I doubt Floyd will want to stay inactive, while those two are getting all the media attention. He will want to get his name back out there and what better way than to fight an old fighter with a name in Shane in a WW title fight. On the other hand, if Margarito beats Shane I dont think We'll be seeing PBF-Margarito. This is all just a thought, but I wouldnt be surprised if it hapened.

If Floyd is truly hard-up I think you will see Mayweather stomping for a romp with Margarito. I think the only reason Mayweather didn't fight him was because he couldn't make any money on it. Now people know Antonio, now they want to see what he'll do next, now is the time to fight him for a ton of money.

From what I saw of Shane last time out, he is done. I'm about the only one on this site who thinks this, but he had terrible trouble with Mayorga and one punch saved his reputation. That power won't be knocking Tony out, but I see that fight as the end of the line for Shane, and I think Tony will give him a one sided beating. The movement in the legs simply wasn't there against Mayorga, and its a tool he'll really need against a pressure puncher like Margarito.

You could very well right, he did look old against Mayorga even Cotto imo, but Im just saying what if he does win. He still has a chance, I could see shane not alowing Margarito to get in a rythm, and beating him to the punch, if his legs hold up he could pull it off. Im still favoring Tony to win though too.

I gotta agree ith C.J. on that, Floyd cares too much about his undefeated status to risk it. He loves the 0 on his record and he loves 0's on his paychecks.

Didn't Arum offer Floyd $8 million to fight AM once? If they fight now, I wonder what Floyd would get?

I don't think I disagree with anything on this post.

I was at the Cotto fight and I thought Shane still looked a decent threat at that time. But the year layoff did him no favours, and fighting at 154 may have been a reason for being slower, but he looked half the fighter he was and I just see Shane being punished badly by Tony. I understand your Floyd argument completely, I just don't see it being a factor.

You are not the only one who thinks Mosley is past it. Many people think this. And it is true. He is still competitive but Mosley can no longer outbox top competition and he no longer has that stretch in the championship rounds. His combos are not even there anymore. He throws one and then one two. His powerboxing is gone. Mosley will be a punished boxer against Margarito unless somehow he pulls the cat out of the bag one more time. And the best way to beat Margarito is to go to the body consistently. Maybe Mosley is working on this scheme.
Re: Anyone Else Think That If Shane Beats Margarito, PBF Will Want Shane?
I doubt that PBF will fight SSM even if he beats Margarito. I just dont see that match happening.
Re: Anyone Else Think That If Shane Beats Margarito, PBF Will Want Shane?
Depends. Floyd will be looking for the biggest money fight possible. Right now, that would be the winner of Pac-Hatton. But since that fight won't happen until May, then Floyd probably wouldn't fight the winner until November or December. Mosley-Margarito fight in January. So, if Floyd wants to get into the ring before Nov or Dec, then I could see him fighting Shane in, say, June if Shane beats Tony. But Shane even in his prime wasn't really a big money fighter, so he won't bring Floyd nearly as much as Pac-Hatton.

Good points, i think if Mayweather-Mosley was hyped up right, which with GBP it would be, it would bring in good number. Pac or Hatton would be bigger but Im thinking he would fight the winner of both. Like you said the timing would work out so hed have like 5 or 6 months between the two, maybe even more. Sufficient time to hype both.

I remember after the Mayorga fight on here, lots of people were looking through rose tinted glasses about the performance Mosley put on and couldn't believe anyone would score the fight Mayorga's way. So on that merit, I thought I'd receive a bit of a backlash for making that statment.

I don't think Mosley is necessarily the easiest guy out there for Mayweather, if he fought the way he did against Collazo I think he may give Floyd some troubles. I mean Floyd already beat Hatton so I see him either facing Mosley if he wins or Pacquiao if he wins. More likely Pacquiao or Mosley first then Pacman.
