Just finished watching my newest boxing DVD: J.C. Chavez - The ultimate Mexican Hero, and at the end when he lost his final fight and he broke down in the dressing room I got a bit of a lump in my throat.
He was one of the greatest fighters in the history of boxing and he wasn't able to handle this "Palooka" as he called him.
Anyway it is a really good watch for anyone who hasn't seen it and I really do recommend it!

Quality fighter and legend. Chin and skin was solid. Punched constantly and relentlessly and killer left hook to the body and right cross. Superb and very under rated boxing skills. His defence was great at blocking and parrying punches just so he could get inside and rip you a part. The first p4p king. Absolute privilege to watch his fights.
Def. one of my fav. documentaries now...
I pre-ordered this one to make sure I got it right when it would release.

I like Chavez and all but I think Benny Leonard, Hank Armstrong, Ray Robinson, Roberto Duran, Ray Leonard, and Tommy Hearns might disagree with Chavez being the "first p4p king".Quote:

I honestly cannot remember the term p4p best until JCC was around. I thought is came about because there were too many alphabet titles.

So according to the list by the ring mag. Mike Tyson was the 1st P4P fighter ever then it was JCC then Pernell.
However it is said that the term P4P was 1st used with SRR.
I think what Lyle is saying is that he could compile a list of fighters who were P4P #1 prior to the 1st list made in '89.
Thanks I did not know that. I think JCC would have been better than Tyson p4p, even at that time.
Agreed.This is what I hate about p4p lists and why thay are a mind melt.Chavez blows the doors off of Tyson when it comes to all around boxing ability,level of comp,etc.Tyson was/is a household name,an explosive heavyweight making news in the ring and maybe just as much outside of it.Personally...I dont see him as a "p4p" fighter.Quote:

where did you guys buy this? where can it be ordered from?
Many great fighters are bad losers, Eric Morales comes to mind as they are not use to losing, when it happens it hurts them. they could be humble but why lie.
